Procedures Rule creation

Objectives- TSWBAT effectively line up at


the door quietly and orderly without any talking in ____ seconds (1 sec for each student. Ex: 20 students = 20 seconds), with a 100% accuracy. I can quietly line up at the door within ____ seconds without talking.

Materials- Classroom, students, stopwatch,


place to line up in front of door.

Instruction- (See right)

Begin by explaining the importance of respect and why respect is important. Guide the idea of respect into their respect for each other, the teacher, and their classroom. A way they can show respect is by transitioning quietly without talking so that everyone gets where they need to go and on time. Talk about the importance of time. Ask students how they should line up at the door. (Write down their ideas). Model what it looks like to quietly and respectfully line up at the door in a timely fashion. Have students practice. (If they create noise or arent respectful have them immediately sit back down, explain to them why you brought them back. Have them give ideas on how they can do it better. Then have them try it again). When theyve accomplished the task with 100% accuracy, give the signal of thumbs up, and have them return to their seats quietly. Continue practice throughout the day the same way. If they become loud, have them sit back down and try again.

Evaluation- Students will complete their line


up at the door with 100% accuracy and 95% engagement.

Procedures

Objectives- TSWBAT efficiently exit the


school in case of a fire alarm/ fire threat.

I can quietly and efficiently walk through the hall on my way out of the school during fire alarms. I can identify the safe zone outside of the school.

Materials- Classroom/ school, students,


place to line up in front of door, and safe zone.

Instruction- (See right)

Begin by explaining the importance of fire safety and safe walking in the hallways to the safe zone located outside of the school. Have students get into groups and make posters on the importances talked about. Have each group present. Have students line up at the door as they practiced when lining up earlier. Have students practice walking in the halls quietly and quickly. Show the students where the safe zone is outside of the school. Have students practice. (If they create noise or arent respectful have them immediately sit back down, explain to them why you brought them back. Have them give ideas on how they can do it better. Then have them try it again). When theyve accomplished the task with 100% accuracy, give the signal of thumbs up, and have them return to their seats quietly.

Evaluation- Students will complete their exit


from the school with 100% accuracy and 100% engagement.
