Core Concepts 1. Reading: a. Broaden students range of comprehension strategies to increase reader engagement with a variety of texts (workforce-oriented, GED Content, etc.) b. Practice note taking and annotating skills to increase active thinking while reading 2. Writing: a. Develop a solid understanding and practice of the writing process b. Focus on grammatical skills, organization skills, and the writing process 3. Math: a. Increase students number sense by using real-world applications as often as possible b. Hone in on decimals, fractions, and percentages as the foundation for whole-part thinking and increased number sense c. Practice data analysis, which combines use of number sense and wholepart thinking in problem solving applications
