City Officials Head to Tijuana For Roundtable Discussion Visit is part of Interim Mayors Goal of Fostering Cross-Border Collaboration
SAN DIEGO, CA (Oct.15, 2013) Interim Mayor Todd Glorias director of binational affairs will travel with other city officials to Tijuana Wednesday to talk with Mexican officials about ways to increase cross-border collaboration on a host of issues and projects. Tijuana Mayor Bustamante and I are committed to ensuring that the relationship between our two governments is as collaborative as possible, Gloria said. By sharing ideas and information, we can better address the challenges and opportunities that we face as two cities whose interests are intertwined in so many ways. Mario Lopez, the interim mayors director of binational affairs, will join several other city department directors in participating in a roundtable with top officials of Tijuanas city government. Joining Lopez will be Scott Chadwick, assistant chief operating officer; Ann Sasaki, assistant director of the Public Utilities Department; Bill Fulton, director of Planning; John Valencia, program manager of the Office of Homeland Security; Mario Sierra, assistant director of the Environmental Services Department; and Diana JuradoSainz, director of legislative affairs. Shortly after assuming the duties of Mayor, Gloria met with Bustamante and they discussed ways for the two governments to help and learn from each other. They agreed to participate in these roundtables several times a year. The next one is scheduled for February in San Diego.
