InTime framework
InTime is a social network site, that combines a pro ling module (through online social network, i.e. Facebook) and users activity analysis, like semantic tagging, to generate targeted services for the users of the social network; this is achieved using a module for semiautomatic user pro les generation and curation. User pro les are exploited as a place to perform recommendation of videos, users and resources of interest. InTime can be classi ed as an hybrid recommender system combining a collaborative ltering approach with content-based ltering techniques.

User profiling and recommendations

The modeling of user interests is carried out with three strategies: 1) cold start scenario: the system tries to extract some observable properties from users Facebook pro les; 2) use of algorithms to compute neighborhood user similarity, Recommendations are based on video votes, people pro les and exploiting collaborative ltering techniques and semantic resources tagged or automatically extracted from video co mments, implicit interest indicators; added by users with a widget that let them create frame-accurate 3) clustering of resources extracted from the network activity and discussions and comments. suggestions in the users personal pro le of interests. Comments are processed using Named Entity Detection, based on rules and gazetteer and using a wiki cation process that selects relevant topics and tags. This semantic representation is then used to assign the resource to a taxonomy of interests, using clustering and kNN classi cation, based on Wikipedia Link-based Measure (WLM).
