With less than one week away until the Eid ul Adha celebrations begin many Muslims will be busy shopping and thinking of ways to spend this blessed day with their family and close friends. Sadly, a lot of Muslims will also forget the Islamic etiquettes behind it, and even drift into haram (prohibited actions) such as free-mixing, fornicating, taking drugs, nationalism, imitating the disbelievers etc. It is very important for us to understand the signi cance of Eid. Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, Enter happiness into the heart of your family and children on this day. As Muslims, we do not celebrate the festivals of the disbelievers e.g. Christmas, Easter, Birthdays etc., but rather Allah (SWT) has designated Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha as our special days where we are encouraged to rejoice, and even get reward for it. The Eid of 2013/1434H should also be a moment of re ection on the state of the Ummah. Alhamdulillah, Muslims are rising for the Shariah (Islamic law) across the world and standing up to the corruption of man-made law, but there is still a long way to go. As Muslims, we should continue to struggle to see the establishment of the Khilafah (Islamic State) by holding rmly to the Quran and Sunnah upon the understanding of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (saw). It is therefore important for us to ensure that our speech and actions re ect piety and not sinful behaviour if we sincerely desire to earn the pleasure of Allah and give victory to His Deen i.e. Islam. Ensure that you maintain an Islamic Eid, avoid all haram (prohibited actions) at all costs, do not forget your Muslim brothers and sisters facing oppression around the world, continue to struggle for the Khilafah and may Allah accept it from you and us.
