Daily Lesson Plan Form

Subject: Physical Grade Level: 4th Education Mentor: Alanna Smith Campus/District: Lamar Date: 10/2/2013 Elementary/GISD Overall Goal of Lesson: Students will participate in a game designed to elevate their heart rates and help improve cardiorespiratory endurance. Instructional Objectives: The students will exhibit proper form during warm-up exercises. The students will demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and participate in the game for the day. Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills (TEKS) & ELPS: The student demonstrates competency in fundamental movement patterns and proficiency in a few specialized movement forms. The student is expected to: demonstrate changes in speed during straight, curved, and zig-zag pathways in dynamic situations. The student applies movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills. The student is expected to make appropriate changes in performance based on feedback. Physical activity and health. The student exhibits a health enhancing, physically-active lifestyle that provides opportunities for enjoyment and challenge. The student is expected to: identify and demonstrate a variety of exercises that promote flexibility; participate in activities that develop and maintain muscular strength and endurance; and participate in moderate to vigorous physical activities on a daily basis; explain the link between physical activity/inactivity and health such as reduce stress and burn calories; elect and use proper attire that promotes participation and prevents injury; Social development. The student understands basic components such as strategies and rules of structured physical activities including, but not limited to, games, sports, dance, and gymnastics. The student is expected to: distinguish between compliance and noncompliance with rules and regulations; and analyze potential risks associated with unsafe movement and improper use of equipment; follow rules, procedures, and etiquette; demonstrate effective communication, consideration and respect for the feelings of others during physical activities such as encourage others, allow others equal turns, and invite others to participate. Modifications/ELL Strategies I will model and walk students through the game if they need more help than just observing. Time Allotted 11:20-11:28 Teacher Input/Lesson Activity:

Anticipatory Activity for Lesson: N/A

Warm Up: The students will enter the gym and begin exercising. They can choose between push-ups, crunches, jumping jacks, or running in place. Students will also recite math problems from the projector during exercise. Activity: Hospital Tag. The object is to tag as many players as possible, while avoiding being tagged. On Go, you are all It. Move inside the boundaries. When you hear, Hospital Tag, try to tag others, using a 2-finger tag. If tagged, you have a wound. Put a bandage (1 hand) on it. Keep trying to tag others, now with your other hand. If tagged a 2nd time, put your other hand on the new wound. When you receive your 3rd tag, move outside the boundaries to our hospital, and complete an exercise to improve wellness (10 jumping jacks, pushups, or sit ups) and re-enter the game. Cool Down: Leg stretches. Modeling: During my instruction, I will demonstrate to the students how to play the game.
