LSAC Meeting Wednesday, May 8, 2013 Members present: Debbie Doss, Shari Schwalbe, Tracy Schrantz, Alison Snow,

Tiffany Vorick, Mia Fuller, Rebecca Reed Guests: Kim Hannon, Jennifer Baum, Virginia Crowley, Mousumi Dutta Welcome Shari called the meeting to order at 7:04 a.m. Approval of Minutes Alison Snow moved to approve February minutes. Rebecca Reed seconded the motion. The February minutes were approved. New Business The move to charter system was reviewed. Creek View is in cohort 3. The schools that are in cohort 1 have elected their governance councils. The School Improvement Plan is now being called the School Strategic Plan. There are some potential changes now that Fulton County is a charter system. SPLOST was discussed. Funds are approximately $25 million short of the projection. The county is using the SPLOST funds to focus on renovations and additions versus new school construction. $178 million in funds will also be spent on technology. There will be a Professional Learning Community Summit this summer (June and July). Crossroads (the alternative education location) will be outsourced. Ombudsman will running this program. The Board of Education has voted on some employment policy changes. There is now a 90 day probationary period for new employees. There are four principal vacancies in the Northwest Learning Communities. Principals Update The CCRPI score was discussed. Creek View scored a 98. The School Quality Review was discussed. Creek View scored proficient and accomplished. The report was summarized by Ms. Doss. Creek View is projected to have 1031 students next year. There will be 6-7 in both 4th and 5th, 7 in 3rd, 6-7 in 1st and 2nd, and 8 kindergarten classes. PTA Update The 2013-14 PTA board was recently elected. The Basket Raffle was very successful (approx. 20k profit). 5th grade festivities are forthcoming. WRAD Day is this Friday

The Science Lab will be moved into a learning cottage. There will only be one computer lab next year. LSAC Business There are two parent vacancies on LSAC next year. The election will be held in May. Parents are expected to attend the LSAC meetings and encouraged to attend the Katie Reeves Community Meetings. LSAC will meet either over the summer or in August. The meeting was adjourned at 7:48 a.m. The next District 2 Community Meeting will be held on May 14, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. at Northwestern Middle School.
