- What does a backbone do? Students will use modeling clay and their
pencils to make a model of an animal with four legs and no backbone and then one with a backbone. Students will record observations and answer questions on p. 34-35 in Activity Lab Book. - How big are animals? Students will complete p. 36 in Activity Lab Book about sizes of different invertebrates and vertebrates. - Read and discuss p. 90-94 in textbook.
- Create study guide for lesson. Student will create a layered book to
summarize what they have learned about animals with backbones. -Have students complete p. 30-31 in Reading & Writing Workbook. -Have students complete p. 32-33 in Reading and Writing Workbook.

Systems in Animals - Students will write down their vocabulary definitions and sentences.
- Review the definition of an organ and organ system. - How does an earthworm respond to light? Students will observe how
an earthworm responds to light and make inferences of why it may react to the light. Students will record observations and answer questions on p. 38-39 in Activity Lab Book. - Read and discuss p. 100-104 in textbook.
