arrivals, but, in fact, failing to do
the job as only a portion of the

predatory behavior, approaching
tourists standing in lines offering
"express service" through
immigration in return for a fee.
The presence of many
brochure racks offering package
tours and transportation services

brochures cause losses to Bali's
official tour and travel operators,
who provide a guaranteed level of
service and realistic pricing.
Despite numerous past
complaints to the airport about
these brochures and promises by
Angkasa Pura that remedial steps
would be taken, the brochures
continue to be on display at the
airport. According to Pastika, a
further investigation by his office
also reveals that brochure
distribution, counters and
advertising at the airport are all

by Angkasa Pura.
Tourist Information Counters
at the airport which are supposed to
distribute brochures and provide
information to incoming tourists are,
in fact, selling cut-rate tours that
anger legal tour operators.
There are too many money
changers within the airport. In the
arrival area, there are 12 money
changers all gathered together in a
single line of booths near the exit
corridor lane of the airport's arrival
section. According to the governor,
5 money changers would be a more
ideal number and that number
should be located outside the arrival
hall.
The accumulation of
security staff in certain areas of the
airport give the impression that they
are "working while socializing with
each other."
The over abundance of
commercial space rented out at the
airport. As a result, the domestic
arrival area is very cramped with no
chairs, causing disorder outside the
arrival hall where people have no
place to sit while waiting for arriving
passengers.
The presence of "special
rooms" used by Customs and
Immigration to "sort out problems"
which, according to the governor, is
against the rules of Customs and
Immigration.
The unusual move by
Governor Pastika of writing an open
report on the many problems at
Bali's airport brings into sharp focus
the anger and frustration felt by
Bali's tourism industry and the
general public with the poor
condition and inferior service
provided to the public at Bali's
airport. It also underlines what
appears to be a growing rift
between the Governor and the
Airport's Manager, Heru Legowo.

Garuda Indonesia is
expected to resume flights to
Europe in the first half of 2010,
after the EU Air Safety Committee
recommends the lifting of the flight
ban on Garuda and three other
Indonesian carriers.

self-funded documentary that will
follow the two as they auction their
virginity to unknown bidders.
Mr Sisely said the two
"successful" bidders would receive
$20,000, along with 90 per cent of
the final auction sale.
The remaining 10 per cent
would be retained by the
prostitution agency which he will
have to find to carry out the
auction.
Mr Sisely said he planned
to visit Adelaide last, after Brisbane
and Perth, and will be here by
November, despite criticism and

Cannibal Europeans 'ate their children'

Europeans" discovered at an
archaeological site in northern
Spain have revealed that these
prehistoric humans were
cannibals who particularly liked
the flesh of children.
"We know that they
practiced cannibalism," Jose
Maria Bermudez de Castro, one
of the co-directors of the
Atapuerca project, said.
A study of the remains
revealed that they turned to
cannibalism to feed themselves
and not as part of a ritual.
They also ate their rivals
after killing them, mostly children
and adolescents.
"It is the first well-
documented case of cannibalism
in the history of humanity, which
does not mean that it is the

people trying to quit are
statistically more likely to be
depressed and suicidal, officials
for both companies said it was
difficult to identify the specific
impact of the drugs on those
risks. “Nicotine withdrawal itself
can be very difficult for people to
endure,” Dr. Steve Romano, a
Pfizer vice president, said
Wednesday.
Analysts said the F.D.A.
action would have little effect on
sales because of previous
indications of the drugs'
psychiatric risks.
“I think the market and
physicians have already been
sensitized to this,” said
Catherine J. Arnold, an analyst
for Credit Suisse.
“I'm not panicking,” said
Jami Rubin, an analyst for
Goldman Sachs, “Sales are
already down a lot. It is and will
remain a small niche product.”
Chantix had already
experienced a slight sales
decline last year from the $883
million achieved in 2007. And
this year's first-quarter sales of
$177 million were 36 percent
below the corresponding period
last year.
Ms. Arnold predicted that
sales would probably continue
falling to around $740 million for
all of 2009, but that demand for
smoking-cessation treatments
would enable it to grow modestly
after that to perhaps half of the
$2 billion in annual sales Pfizer

European officials first
alerted the F.D.A. in 2007 to
problems associated with
Chantix. In September of that
year, Jeffrey Carter Albrecht, a
keyboard player from the pop-
music group Edie Brickell and
New Bohemians, was killed by a

door, ranting. Mr. Albrecht's
girlfriend blamed Chantix, which she
said had made him hostile.
The widely publicized event

of suicide attempts among those
taking Chantix.
As officials looked more
closely, they found to their surprise
that Zyban has similar associated
risks. The agency received 14
reports of suicides and 17 reports of
suicide attempts among those
taking Zyban.
No one knows why the drugs
are associated with mental
problems. In some cases, patients
could be experiencing nicotine
withdrawal, but some of the reports
involved patients who had yet to
stop smoking. And many of the
events happened just as patients
began or stopped therapy, officials
said.
“If this is nicotine withdrawal,
it really doesn't matter,” said Dr.
Robert Temple, an F.D.A. official.
“You need to pay attention to them.”
The agency's action requires
the drugs' makers to mention the
risk of suicide in advertising, and it
prevents the companies from using
“reminder” ads, during which
consumers are encouraged to talk
to their doctors about a health issue
but the product's name is not
mentioned.

The US MotoGP turned
into a one-man show at Laguna
Seca in California, and the star was
an unlikely winner - Spaniard Dani
Pedrosa
Pedrosa led from first lap to
last on his Honda for his first
MotoGP victory of the year, holding
off Italian Valentino Rossi on a
dramatic final lap.
Pedrosa's winning time
was 44min 1.58secs for 32 laps on
the 3.61-kilometre track.
Rossi, who increased his
margin atop the championship
standings, was second on his
Yamaha, 0.344 seconds behind
Pedrosa.

Harmison has missed the cut for
England's 13-man squad for the first
Ashes Test, but England captain
Andrew Strauss is still confident the
locals have the measure of
Australia's diminutive batsman.
A secret diary kept by
Strauss has exposed chinks in the
homespun batting technique of the
rookie opener.
It was Harmison who so
decisively revealed those
weaknesses playing for England
Lions in a tour match when he twice
dismissed the 20-year-old with
sharp, rising deliveries aimed at the
batsman's throat.
While batting with Hughes at
English side Middlesex, Strauss
ordered that an Ashes blueprint be
prepared on how to dismiss the
young Australian.
Strauss asked Middlesex
captain Shaun Udal to write a diary
of everything he noticed about
Hughes's unorthodox technique -
and it may have reaped the ultimate
Ashes dividend.
Hughes plundered three
county centuries against second-
division attacks. However, it may all
have been part of England's Ashes
plan. Strauss and Udal soon saw
that the left-hander was often
uncomfortable against the short ball.

Collingwood believes Hughes's six-
week spell playing county cricket could
backfire in the Ashes.
"It allowed us to see him up
close, especially Andrew Strauss, who
has been playing alongside him at
county level and has had a good look
at him," he said.
Australia coach Tim Nielsen
has dared England to try to bounce
Hughes out - insisting South Africa's
quicks tried the same tactic without
success this year.
After he failed in the opening
innings of his Test debut in
Johannesburg, Hughes responded with
two centuries in the three-Test series.
Nielsen believes Hughes will
be well prepared for England's short-
pitched plans after he confronted a
fired-up Harmison in the game at
Worcester.
"It's great experience for
Hughesy because he hasn't faced that
quality fast bowling in the last month or
so ... it's given him a chance to be
aware of how they are going to attack
him," Nielsen said.
"Without wanting to make too
much of that, that's how South Africa
bowled to him all series when he had
second Australia side to complete a
whitewash.
The first was delivered 86
years earlier, in the 1920-1921 series -
the first after the outbreak of World War
I - under the guidance of 41-year-old
Warwick Armstrong.
Armstrong's men made their
intentions clear from the start, setting
the visitors 659 to win in the first Test in

A Priest's Dying Wish
In Canberra an old priest lay dying in the
hospital. For years he had faithfully served
the people of the nation's capital. He
motioned for his nurse to come near.
"Yes, Father?" Said the nurse.
"I would really like to see Prime Minister and
the Treasurer before I die", whispered the
priest.
"I'll see what I can do, Father", replied the
nurse.
The nurse sent the request to Parliament and
waited for a response.
Soon the word arrived; Prime Minister Kevin
Rudd and Treasurer Wayne Swan would be
delighted to visit the priest.
As they went to the hospital, Kevin
commented to Wayne, "I don't know why the
old priest wants to see us, but it will certainly
will help our images and might even get me
re-elected Prime Minister. After all, I'm IN IT
TO WIN IT". Wayne agreed that it was a
good thing.
When they arrived at the priest's room, the
priest took Kevins hand in his right hand and
Waynes hand in his left.
There was silence and a look of serenity on the
old priest's face.
Finally Kevin Rudd spoke. "Father, of all the
people you could have chosen, why did you
choose us to be with you as you near the end?"
The old priest slowly replied, "I have always
tried to pattern my life after our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ."
"Amen", said Kevin. "Amen", said Wayne.
The old priest continued, "Jesus died between
two lying thieves; I would like to do the
same."

Unbeaten Saints can still improve: Riewoldt

Riewoldt says his side can still
improve despite stretching its
unbeaten run to 14 AFL games with
victory over Geelong on Sunday.
The Saints travel to Perth
this weekend to play the struggling
