Akmal Ariffen Perception of Author Top Gear magazine is well known for its car fanatics and complicated

vehicular jargons. To a beginner in the car-reading market, this non-fiction text about Lamborghinis new release, the Egoista, would be considered as one of Shakespeares plays to animals as it contains many foreign terms such as 592 bhp or V12. The name Egoista is a word borrowed from the Italians. An act known as word borrowing, this qualifies the word Egoista as a loanword. The name of the car itself is defined as selfish; the name directly correlates with the one-seat design of the car. The author is perceived as a tall, muscular, car-obsessed male, and ranging between ages of 28 to 35. His use of language is rather informal. Words such as stupefying and jawdropping introduced a pinch of colloquialism to the text. These factors justified that the author is an easy-going character in his language usage, yet when it comes to cars, his style of writing exposes a whole new person- a highly obsessed and enthusiastic child bragging about his new kicks. Although most of the text was written informally, the knowledge one has to know about cars in order to write this would suggest that the author is a successor in the hyper car industry.
