A Peek at the Week of September 16-20 Homework

for 20-30 min nightly. Students should write a few sentences in response to their reading.

Reading Students will practice reading comprehension strategies. Our focus this week is using non fiction texts. Were still reviewing main idea, organization and referring back to the text when answering questions and we will apply these skills to reading for information. Spelling Week Five (Review of r-influenced vowel patterns are, -ire, -ore, -ure, -air, -ear) bare, stare, wire, tire, more, store, pure, cure, chair, pair, fear, year Bonus: spare, umpire, injure, beard Writing - Students will continue to learn continue learning Six + 1 Traits of Writing with a focus on ideas and organization. Students are learning how authors organize their ideas into clear beginnings, middles and ends and how authors use transition words to help the writing flow. We will work on revising our work to make it more interesting. Math Students will continue collecting, organizing, displaying, and interpreting data. Students will create picture graphs, bar graphs, and line plots. Science We will continue to study rocks and minerals with a focus on the different types of rocks. Sedimentary, Igneous, and Metamorphic. We will have a test on rocks and minerals on Friday.

Social Studies Continue our study of the levels and branches of government. Levels: local, state, and national. Branches: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.
