Terms And Conditions Of Sale 1. All persons attending the sale under the conduct of the Auctioneers shall be deemed to be on the land and premises entirely at their own risk and shall have no claim against the Auctioneers in respect of cancellation/ postponement of a sale or any loss, accident or injury, however occasioned. 2. All bids made should be treated as offers made upon these conditions of sale and all persons present are admitted to attend a sale on the basis that they have notice of these conditions. All persons intending to bid must register at the registration desk before the sale starts. the fall of the hammer. In the case of a dispute, it shall be settled by the Auctioneers, whose decision shall be 4. Cheques in excess of recognised limits will not be accepted from Buyers unknown to the Auctioneers, unless prior arrangements have been made with them, or Bank or other suitable references have been supplied. Noncompliance with this condition may delay the release of lots pending the clearance of cheques. 7. The Auctioneers will at the request of the Buyer store larger items at their premises at the Buyers risk. Items can be collected by prior arrangement. 8. The Auctioneers will execute commission bids, written or telephoned, free of charge. Postal bidders should use the form at the back of this catalogue. Commission bids will be executed as cheaply as possible having regard to any reserve and other postal bids or bids in the room. The auctioneers shall not, however, be responsible for any neglect or default in executing or failing to execute any commission bid. 9. Subject to condition 12, (a) Lots are sold with all faults and imperfections and neither the Seller nor the Auctioneer is responsible for any defects whatsoever; (b) no warranty is given or authorised to be given by the Seller or the Auctioneer with regard to any Lot other than that the Seller had the right to sell it; (c) any express or implied conditions or warranties, whether relating to description or quality, are hereby excluded. himself fully before bidding, by inspection or otherwise, as to its condition. This includes the physical and the description including, but not restricted to, whether the Lot is damaged or has been repaired. 11. The Auctioneers undertake that care has been taken to see that the catalogue descriptions, including rarity, origin and condition, are accurate and reliable, taking into account all the information available when the catalogue was prepared, but these are necessarily matters of opinion only and shall not be taken to be statements of fact. 12. Notwithstanding Conditions 9, 10 and 11, if the Auctioneers receive notice in writing from the Buyer within returned to the Auctioneers at their premises, in the same condition as when bought, then if on considering such evidence as the Buyer supplies to prove his assertion, the Auctioneers decide that the Lot is a forgery the sale of the Lot will be rescinded and the purchase price repaid to the Buyer. 13. If the Buyer fails to pay for or remove any Lot bought by him or in any other material respect fails to comply with these Conditions, the Auctioneers shall have the right (a) to resell the Lot by public auction or otherwise expenses of the Auctioneers, the Buyer shall be responsible to the Seller and Auctioneers (but any surplus to be the Sellers) or alternatively, (b) to store the Lot at the premises of the Auctioneers or elsewhere and to release the Lot to the Buyer only after payment in full of all reasonable storage and removal expenses incurred (in addition to the purchase price). 15. MAIN AUCTION The main Auction will be in the Exhibition Hall and viewing will be from 7.30 a.m. The sale will start at 10.30 a.m. There will be a lunch break at Lot 300 for 30 minutes. Car parking on the site is restricted but there are a number of car parks within a short walking distance of the Centre. ALPHA LOTS There will be a large Alpha lot section on the day. This will be held in the Viewing Room at the Crewe North Signal Box. Viewing for this sale will be from 8.00 a.m. till 11.00 a.m. Bids to be in by 11.00 a.m. Lots will be sold to the highest bidder as determined by the Auctioneers on receipt of the special Alpha Lot Bidding Slips handed in by 11.00 a.m. on the day. The results of this Auction will be available at 2.00 p.m. and an announcement will be made in the Main Hall. All lots must be removed by 3.30 p.m. unless prior arrangements are made. We regret that Alpha lots are not available to poster bidders. BUYERS PREMIUM Please note there is a 10% Buyers Premium to be added to the Hammer Price in the main auction and the highest bid price in the Alpha Lot Auction. FREE BUS There will be a Free Vintage Routemaster Bus running to and from Crewe Railway Station and the Heritage Centre starting from 7.40am approx every 20 minutes for the duration of the day. The bus will break for lunch approx 40 mins at 12.40 to 1.10. REFRESHMENTS There will be Homemade refreshments available all day in the North Signal Box. CAR PARKING The parking at the Heritage Centre will be for Staff and trade stands only on the day. A Southern Railway double sided enamel direction sign SOUTHERN RAILWAY STATION in Sunshine lettering with feathered arrow. \some minor edge chipping otherwise in superb condition. Size 20 x 15.

A North Eastern Railway McKenzie & Holland pattern large signal finial, cast iron base with zinc top. In very good restored condition.

A cast iron shedplate 71F Ryde Isle Of Wight 1950 to September 1954. The plate would appear to be in ex loco condition with a clear BR(S) Eastleigh triangle to the rear. A Scarce plate!

A cast iron wagonplate London Brighton & South Coast Railway LBSC 8 Tons 3631. In very good restored condition.

A London & North Eastern Railway lamp tablet ST. BOSWELLS f/f, rectangular in shape, brown on cream with a couple of face chips otherwise in excellent condition. A location on the Waverley route. Size 16 x 5.

A chromed, brass diesel worksplate English Electric Company Ltd London no.2813/D528 1960 The Vulcan Foundry Ltd Locomotive Works England. New as D291 to Crewe then Camden, Longsight and Edge Hill. Re-numbered 40 091 in Feb 1974. The loco was withdrawn in Sept 1984 at Neville Hill and moved to Crewe Works in Nov 1984 and cut up at Hamptons Stoke on Trent in December 1988 at the works. Note this was the last Class 40 to be cut up. The plate is in very good ex loco condition.

A GWR official Jigsaw THE STREAMLINED WAY depicting GWR Railcar No.4 with ghost outline of King Class locomotive. Complete with box and made up on a board to view.

A framed & glazed carriage print DEGANWY, CAERNARVONSHIRE by Montague Black from the LMR series. In very good condition with original type frame.

A (Midland Railway) wood with cast iron base small pattern signal finial, as used on shunting signals. A Scarce Finial!

A cast iron locomotive tenderplate M 7038 1950 ex Ivatt 2-6-0 46 495 new Darlington Jan 1950 to Kettering, then Derby, Nuneaton and then Crewe South. Withdrawn October 1966 and cut up at Cohens Kettering 1967. The plate is in ex loco condition.

An LMS (LNWR pattern) platform wall lamp with original paper name label KIRKBY STEPHEN WEST and complete with burner, reservoir and reflector. The lamp is in good unrestored condition. A location on the Settle & Carlisle route.

A BR(M) totem DEGANWY f/f. A couple of face & edge repairs & some minor scratching otherwise good deep colour & shine. This Station serves the small town which is located on the branch line from Llandudno Junction (on the North Wales Coast Line from Crewe to Holyhead) to Llandudno.

A cast iron sign (Great Western Railway) from one of the companies Steam Rail Motors in the style of the 1909 Cab Notice CAUTION DO NOT LEAN OUT OR STAND ON STEP OF THIS CAR WHEN NEAR BRIDGES, TUNNELS, LOADGAUGES OR COALSTAGES. In unrestored condition. A Scarce Sign! See also Lot 326.

A mounted coat of arms transfer GLYN VALLEY TRAMWAY. GVT in gilt within a decorative red garter on an olive green background, size 18 x 15. This Narrow Gauge Railway ran from Chirk Station (on the GWR Shrewsbury to Wrexham line) to Glynceiriog, passenger services ceased on 6th April 1933 with complete closure in 1935. A Scarce C.O.A.!

A smokebox plate 3679 ex 0-6-0 GWR Pannier Tank new Swindon July 1940 to Swansea East Dock then Dannygraig then to Southern Region at Wadebridge & Exmouth Junction. It was withdrawn in March 1963 and cut up in June 1964 at Cashmores, Newport. The plate is in face restored some time ago condition.

ENGINEERS LTD No.1255 1935 SCOTSWOOD WORKS NEWCASTLE-ON-TYNE ex LMS Black 5, new as 5214 in Nov 1935, renumbered 45 214 in 1948 at Fleetwood 1948, then to Scotland. Sheds include Eastfield, Perth, St. Rollox and finally Sterling. It was withdrawn in December 1966 at Kingmoor and was cut up at M.C. Williams Shettleston April 1967. The plate is in face restored only condition with two corners repaired.

Withdrawn in Jan 1966 and cut up April 1966. Shed allocations include 1948 Alsager, 1955 Crewe South, 1959 Barrow, 1963 Lancaster and 1966 Patricroft. The plate is in ex loco condition.

A collection of four cast iron D plates: SR STANDARD 13 TONS 5563, GW Ry STANDARD 12 TONS 36776, LMS STANDARD 12 TONS 608798 & LNER 12 TONS 1940 DARLINGTON 241080. All four are nicely restored and would make a nice collection together.

A brass locomotive worksplate ANDREW BARCLAY SONS & Co. LIMITED CALEDONIA WORKS KILMARNOCK No.2037 1937 from a standard gauge 0-4-0 Crane Tank, new to Stanton Ironworks Co. Ltd as their Stanton No.34 where it was used for loading barges on the Erewash canal. It worked at Stanton Ironworks all its life except for a short period in 1957 when on loan to Riddings Foundry. It was scrapped sometime around 1963. In face restored only condition. Size 16 x 11 .

Withdrawn April 1965 and cut up at Cashmores Great Bridge in August 1965. The plate is in very good ex loco condition.

The Coach started out as Padua in 1920 and was converted in 1946/47 (the era of the lamp), the carriage was used in the Bournemouth Belle and was withdrawn in 1960 and is now preserved at the Pullman Lodge Hotel, Seaburn. The lamp has been rewired with new wiring which is in the period style flex and has been PAT Tested for immediate use.

It was also the first Class 37 to have central indicator box (not split type), renumbered to 37 283 in Feb 1974 (this number should have gone to D6983 which was first Class 37 to be scrapped) later rebuilt as Class 37 heavyweight 37 895, other depots include York, most ER depots then Toton. Selected for work in Italy and moved July 2001 but was back in the U.K. by Feb 2003, it spent the next 3 years in and out of store mainly used for Sandite duties before being withdrawn April 2006, kept for spares etc until cut up Sept 2011 by European Metals, Kingsbury. The plate is in very good ex loco condition.

An alloy nameplate MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS as carried by 37401. Named in November 1995 to celebrate the birth Linlithgows most celebrated person and the refurbishment of the station. Removed in February 2001. Loco built by English Electric Vulcan Foundry works number 3528/D957 in February 1965. Withdrawn in December 2010 and still in service with DRS. Probably one of the most photographed Locomotives following its use on the West Highland line, a real celebrity. Size 72 x 9 .

Withdrawn Feb 1999 and sent to Old Oak Common for spares, the body sold to H Needle, the remains cut up at there in April 2004. The plate is in ex loco condition.

An alloy diesel nameplate SELBY COALFIELD ex Class 56, built BREL Doncaster works July 1980 new to Tinsley then Thornaby, Gateshead, Immingham and Toton. It was named Selby Coalfield at Gascolgne Wood Drift Mine on October 30th 1989, stored until April 1999 and was withdrawn in June 2000. The loco was part cut up at Wigna then moved about until cut up December 2003 by Raxstar at Cathays (Cardiff). The plate is in very good ex loco condition and comes with its original paperwork.

A metal station totem sign SOUTHERN with raised lettering and beading. In ex station condition, these signs were used in the 1930s when a number of stations were rebuilt in the then Art Deco style. Approx 6ft long, a remarkable survivor of which has not been seen at auction before.

Now platform 4 at Wrexham General, Wrexham Exchange was originally a separate railway station opened in May 1866 for the (W.M.C.Q.R.). By the time the W.M.C.Q.R. had been bought by the GCR the line was a through station connecting to the Cambrian Railways Wrexham Central Railway station. The station changed hands again in 1921 to the LNER as one of their few stations in Wales.

An alloy nameplate with combined crest THE TIMES ex Class 86 Electric locomotive, new as E3200 VF 3492/E338 Feb 1966, final renumbering was 86 429 in March 1985. It was named The Times at Euston station on the 12th June 1985. Whilst hauling the 17.00 Euston Manchester Piccadilly train on the 19th Sept 1986 it ran past signals at Colwich Junction and was hit sideways on by the 17.20 Liverpool Lime St to Euston train hauled by City Of Milton Keynes with both locos being very badly damaged and removed by road to Crewe Works, with both being withdrawn in October 1986 and cut up by Sept 1987. The plate is in ex loco condition and is believed to be the only surviving nameplate from this engine. See Lot 402.
