    1) The word "Bible" comes from the Greek word "biblia" - meaning "the books." 2) "Scripture" means "writings." 3) There are 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament. 4) About 40 different authors wrote the various books of the Bible over a period of about 1500 years. 5) Moses was the first Bible writer. 6) The original Old Testament books were written in the Hebrew (and partly Aramaic) language. 7) John the Apostle was the last Bible writer. 8) I John, II John and III John were probably the last of the New Testament books written. 9) The original New Testament books were written in the Greek language. 10) The Bible was first devided into chapters in 1250 A.D. by Cardinal Hugo. 11) Gutenberg invented moveable type about 1450 A.D. which led to mass printing of the Bible. 12) The complete Bible was divided into verses in 1560 A.D. (The Geneva Bible). 13) The Douay-Rheims version was completed in 1610 A.D. 14) The King James version was completed in 1611 A.D. 15) There are 773,742 words in the King James version of the Bible.
