Supriya Sharma, HOD Fine Arts attended the art seminar on 27.7.

13 at Khoj Studio at Kirkhee Extention near Saket, New Delhi organised by Art1st Foundation,Mumbai. Under the programme, OPEN MINDS, this exchange programme initiated by Art1st Foundation aimed to provide platform for art teachers and educators from the field of visual art and integrated stream to generate awareness about what art learning can offer in terms of transformative thinking, to understand aesthetics, re-imagining art traditions and explore the possibilities of contemporary art means being open to innovation in the classroom and increasing our understanding of the mind and intelligence. The theme of the seminar was Integrating Visual Literacy in the classroom. Visual literacy has been defined as the ability to understand, interpret and read visual images. The role of the arts is to enable children to express their ideas, emotions and thoughts freely. She presented her lesson plan on the topic Introduction of Miniature painting based on the CBSE curriculum. The participants joined the artists and art educators in the workshop, presentations and group discussions. The objective was to strengthen the position of art education and to meet many challenges facing our youth, the arts and education through collective learning. The seminar also offered Art teachers the opportunity to learn in and through the visual arts by interacting with research based presentations and exemplary case studies.

Ms Supriya Sharma, Ms Kanchan Chauhan and Ms Priya Mittal visited the Gallery Art Motif Sarai, and Krishna Gallery of Arts at Lado Sarai, New Delhi. They were mesmerized to see the exquisite art work displayed in both the galleries included paintings, sculptures and models made by students and artists and observed new techniques used by the artists for their presentations.
