EIL participates in 2nd India - Africa Hydrocarbon Conference The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG) in association

with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organized 2nd India-Africa Hydrocarbon Conference on December 7-8, 2009 in New Delhi. The Conference was inaugurated by Shri S M Krishna, Honble Minister for External Affairs. The objective of the Conference was to bring together Ministers in-charge of oil & gas, top Government officials and captains of the industry in India and Africa for exploring partnership opportunities. The two-day Conference attended by 15 African countries had extensive sessions on the E&P, Refinery, Gas, EPC Services, Financing and Legal Frame works etc. Shri A K Purwaha, C&MD, Shri R K Saxena, Director (Commercial), Shri M K Joshi, Director (Technical), Shri R K Grover, Director (Projects), Shri H S Vohra, ED (Marketing) and other senior officials from EIL actively participated in the Conference. Our C&MD made presentation on EIL's capabilities on the 2nd day of the Conference during the session on Project Management Collaborations : A Hydrocarbon Perspective. Thrust areas for co-operation in the oil and gas sector emerged during the Conference were to buy more crude from Africa, invest more in upstream opportunities on bilateral basis in Africa as well as in third African countries, explore opportunities to source more LNG from Africa, make available our skills talent and technology in a cost-effective manner for the benefit of Africa and taking up community development programmes in Africa for inclusive growth. Shri Jitin Prasada, Hon'ble Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas in his valedictory address mentioned that India can be a partner of African countries in the modernization of their refineries and EIL has ample expertise to upgrade refineries to Euro-III & Euro-IV products. The Conference concluded with the signing of an umbrella MoU between India and Sudan for further expanding cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
