Digital and Analog

Digital Data

Data that are electromagnetically stored in the form of discrete digits. Discrete and discontinuous binary digits. It is a differenty type of data than analog data.

Final Definition

Data that are electromagnetically stored in the form of discrete and discontinuous digits.

Analog Data

Data represented in a continuous form, as contrasted with digital data having discrete values. Data that is recorded in a form that is similar to its original structure.

Final Definition

Data represented in a continuous form and it is similar to its original structure.

Similarities between Digital and Analog

Both can be used to record. Both can be used to transfer information. Both need input and output devices to make to record and transfer the data.

Examples of Digital Data

Compact disc (CD) players Digital Video Disc (DVD) players Synthesizers data Computers data Blu-Ray players

Examples of Analogue Data

Record players 8-track tape players Cassette tape players Tube amplifiers Old electric organs

Digital vs Analogue
There are two reasons why is better to used analogue data at the time of representing sounds. Analogue data is better at the time of representating real world stuff like sounds, electrical currents, paintings, temperatures. The information is not lost in the process (that happen with digital data).
