Online: http://infosvcs.lcu.edu In Irenaeus it is obvious that T C Skeat every study over the four Gospels Canon begins with a passage that Irenaeus wrote in 185 which found a supernatural meaning in the number four. An interesting point that Skeat makes is that Irenaeus took his discussion on the living creatures in the Apocalypse from somewhere or someone else. He supports this by showing that when that is taken into account all of the contradictions and inconsistencies go away. Skeat explains Irenaeus account of the Canon of the four Gospels in order to help readers to better understand it when they see it discussed in other studies of the four Gospels. A target audience is target audience is readers studying the canon of the four Gospels.
