7 Solving 'Equations using the Zero Product Rule


A. Zero Product Rule
This rule states that if ab = 0, then it must be true that
either a = 0 or b = 0 or both a and b = O.

B. Steps for Solving Equations using the Zero Product Rule


1) Write the equation in the 'form: ax2 + bx + c == 0
2) Factor the equation completely
3) Set each factor equal to zero, and solve the equations.
