Timawa The timawa or free people were the

second class in Tagalong and Visayan societies. They paid tribute to the datu , and The were engaged in economic Activities .

Maharlika
The maharlika,who was also called as bayani, were brave warriors who fought for their barangay.

Maginoo and Datu


According to Philipine history, the

datu or dato should be brave, fair, and


have good relationship with his people.

Alipin and Oripun


The alipin or oripun were the lowest class of people. They were divided into two groups. Aliping namamahay,and aliping saguiguilid.

Aliping Namamahay
The aliping namamahay had to pay tribute to the datu.Which is equivalent to 100 gantas of palay and all the seeds they would plant and to supply him with one big jar of quilan or wine from sugar cane.They also had the duty of preparing the food and all the things needed by the datu in his journey.

Aliping Saguiguilid
The aliping saguiguilid had to serve the datu day and night. They do not get

salary and had to continue to do this until they pay their dept and join the aliping namamahay.
