Dear Rising Sophomore Parents:
In response to interest from families, we have invited Capital Educators to conduct a mini-course
at Wootton in preparation for the October PSAT. The program has been specifically designed to
introduce incoming sophomores to the content and test-taking techniques that are most critical to
mastering the exam, We have partnered with Capital Educators because they are highly regarded
in the Wootton community.
Although sophomore PSAT scores are not sent to colleges, strong performance on the 11th grade
PSAT and SAT can play a crucial role in gaining college admission and qualifying for
scholarships. Starting PSAT preparation in 10" grade can give students a significant head start
on the process. By gaining exposure to test-taking techniques early on, students can lighten their
workload for junior year. Starting early also gives students a chance to identify any weaknesses
with ample time to address those concems before the [1th grade exams.
The fee for the Capital Educators mini-course is $495. This includes all six dates that are listed
on the enclosed fall schedule, four Monday evening classes and two full-length diagnostic tests.
‘The program is long enough to build a strong foundation, but not so intensive as to pose a
burden, For more information about this mini-course, the PSAT, or SAT, please call Capital
Educators at 301-881-7700. They can help you decide if this course is a good fit for your child.
They can also provide you with useful information about upcoming standardized testing
