1. pfingoTALK Softphone installation on PC
Download the pfingoTALK
client and extract that into a
folder on your computer.
Run the installer file.
Select a folder to install the
pfingoTALK client to.
2. Using the pfingoTALK softphone on PC
After installation, there should
be a shortcut icon on the
Desktop for you to access the
pfingoTALK client.

Alternatively, you can navigate


to the application directly as
shown on the left.
This is the initial screen when you start the
client.

Right click on the screen to configure the


Settings, if you are in a corporate
environment.
Select “Use HTTP Method” only if you need
to tunnel your VoIP traffic to bypass Firewall
restrictions.

Select “Use Internet Proxy” also if your


company uses a Proxy Server. Type in the
Proxy Server address if selecting the option
doesn’t populate the fields automatically.

Type in the port used by your Proxy Server.

Save the settings and restart the pfingoTALK


softphone client.
Click on the Power Button on the top left to
get to the Login screen.

Enter your pfingoTALK No and PIN that you


would have received via email.

When you sign in successfully, you should


see the “Online – Ready” message at the top.
To make a call, simply dial the number you
want to call, then click on the green phone
button.

To make IP – Phone calls, dial [+] <country


code> <area code> <phone number>.

Once call is connected you should see the


screen attached, and the duration of the call
in progress.

You can also receive calls to your Level 3


number. When such a call comes in, you
would see a window pop up at the bottom
right of your PC screen (if you have
minimized the pfingoTALK client)
3. Using the Address Book feature
Select button as shown on the left for the
Address Book feature.

The contact address book allows you to


update the system with these numbers:

1. VOIP number
2. Mobile number
3. Home number
4. Business number
To create a new entry into address book,
click on Edit.

After successfully creating a contact, it will


appear as shown on the left.

You can make calls directly from the address


book
You can also send an SMS from the address
book
4. Sending SMS from your pfingoTALK softphone

Select the button as shown on the left


for SMS functionality.

Selecting on the SMS tab will allow you


to send SMS.
Select Compose SMS to create an
SMS.

Enter the destination and the SMS


content

Selecting the Sent tab will let you see all


the SMSes that you have sent.
5. pfingoTALK myGlobal number Private
Select the button myGlobal
Number Private to set up
myGlobal number Private

In the Setup tab, you first


choose the country of where
your friend is located.
Enter the name of your friend
you want to assign a myUS
number (or myUK or myOZ).

To see the number assigned


to your friend, go to the
myGlobal number Private
tab.
You can also choose to
notify your friends by
emailing the new number to
them.
6. pfingoTALK Fax

Select the Fax button send


a Fax.

To send a fax, type in the


destination fax number.

Browse to select the PDF


file you want to send.

Select Fax when you are


ready to fax.
7. Other pfingoTALK softphone features
Mic and Speaker Control
Control the volume of the mic
and speaker
Missed Call Alert icon can be
found on the softphone
interface after a missed call
SMS Alert icon can be found on
the softphone to notify the user
on the number of unread SMS
Select the Ringtone icon to
personalize the softphone to
play your own ring tone when
someone calls you.

The format of this file needs to


be in uncompressed wave
format.
Select the button as shown on
the left for Call History.

8. Using other softphone clients
If you use a Apple Mac, there are other clients which you can use to connect to the service to
make VoIP calls. An example is X-Lite from Counterpath.

On the left is the softphone from Counterpath.


You can download it from here:

Please configure these SIP settings for your


VoIP account:

Display Name: <any>


User Name: pfingoTALK No
Password: PIN
Authorisation user name: pfingoTALK No
Domain: sip.pfingo.com

For Domain Proxy settings,


"check" - Register with domain and receive
incoming calls
Set Outbound Proxy via - Choose "Target
Domain"

Leave the rest of the settings as they are and


you will be good to go!

Caveat: you will not have access to the send


SMS or synchronized contacts from the X-Lite
client.
