CASE STUDY

In order to achieve the aim of the project, we have identified three environmental related

problems by walking around our school compound. From our observation we have found

that our school is facing some environmental related problems as below:

i. High usage of water, possibly due to some people did not close the water tap after

using it.

ii. The wasting of papers which is caused by the less efficient usage of papers either

the teachers or the students.

iii. Electricity usage is not economic due to lights and fans did not switched off

especially during recess time.

SELECTED CASE
Problem i :-

High usage of water was selected as the most critical case as it does not only contribute to

a loss of school finance, but it may also result in depletion of resources which are the

water.

DATA COLLECTION

From our observation, the relevant data in this case will be as follows:-

i. The reading of water meter taking every fortnight.

ii. The amount of bill of water that need to be paid.

iii. The average usage of water

THE EFFECT OF WATER WASTING

Based on our investigation, we have recognized some effect caused by the unwisely

usage of water. The effects are as follows:-

i. It maybe one of the sources of pollution.

ii. School also will face financial problem because most of their finances is used to

pay the bills

iii. There will be a water crisis.

iv. Future generation will face problems related to water such as the source of water.

v. A lot of money will be spend just to get clean water.

WAYS TO OVERCOME THE PROBLEM

As a human being we must take care of our beloved Earth. There are some alternative

that we can do to overcome the problem such as:

(i) Launch a water saving campaign in school involving students and teacher.

(ii) Designing signs to go near taps and toilets that tell everyone at school how

they can save water.

(iii) Replacing taps with taps that turn themselves off.

(iv) Adjusting the flush valve in toilet cisterns so the minimum amount of water is

used for each flush.

(v) Fixing all leaks quickly.

(vi) Installing aerators on taps to reduce flow through taps.

(vii) Installing i-wuduk water compressor.
