Bomb blast kills 6 in CDO A bomb explosion at Kylas Bistro, a popular bistro in Limketkai Rosario arcade, kills 6 people,

including Misamis Oriental provincial board member Roldan Lagbas, and leaves 48 others wounded. The other fatalities are identified as Dr. Edwin Malamay and medical representatives Ryan Palafox, Anthony Canete, Ryan Estose and Antonio Paredes. Most of the injured were medical representatives and guests of the pharmaceutical firm who were attending the mid-year convention of the Philippine College of Chest Physicians. They were brought to the hospital where some are still in critical condition. Witnesses said a man came into the bistro at around 11pm, left a backpack on a chair and hurriedly left. A few minutes later, a bomb believed to be an improvised home-made one and placed in the backpack, exploded and hit even the nearby Candys Caf, also in Rosario Arcade. Investigation is still on-going and the motive of the incident has not yet been determined. Investigators are speculating though that it might be politicaly motivated.

Police said that the explosive was in a backpack which was placed near the table where Lagbas and his companions were seated. Senior manager of the LimKetKai group Leoncio Co said he was entertaining a guest at the Big Flat Bread when the bomb exploded. He said the three restaurants-- Kylas Bistro, Candys Caf, and Big Flat Breadwere full of people because it was Friday night. He estimated that there were 300 people sitting in the open area outside the restaurants. It sounded like an explosion of an electric transformer but I can feel the shockwave passing through my ears. My back was turned towards Kylas at that time, Co said. Once Co saw the situation everyone was in, he immediately called the security of the shopping mall and told them to bring the wounded to the hospital. The motive of the bombing is still not determined by the police investigators until now.
