Lesson 1 Understanding the Community

Objectives: At the end of the lesson the students shall have:

Understood better the community and its constituents by immersing themselves in the experiences of the people. Realized the deeper meaning of human life by making them aware of the issues and concerns of the people in the community. Concretized their Christian responsibility of having malasakit sa kapwa by coming up with concrete activities that will benefit the people in the community.

Rationale

We all belong to a community. One factor that will contribute to the success of those who are involved in the community is deeper knowledge and understanding of the community. Our proper and right information about the community will help us to identify where to start as immerse ourselves in the community.

Group One: Concept of the Community


Draw your concept of the community. Use any art material to illustrate your picture of a community. While doing the activity, no one is allowed to talk or make comments. Once the members of the group are done, start the group sharing. Follow the rules on group sharing. The output of the group will be graded based on appropriate rubric. Time allotted for the activity is thirty-five minutes. Class interaction follows

Group Two: Role Playing


Role-play positive and negative scenarios in the community. Divide the group into two. Group 1 will portray positive scenarios in the community, while Group 2 will portray some of the negative events in the community. The output of the group will be graded based on appropriate rubric. Time allotted for the activity is forty minutes. Class interaction follows.

Group 3: Role Playing-The Ideal Community
