Grievance Board Judges
Let Lawyer Status Lapse
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Two administrative law
judges with the state Public Employees Grievance Board have
let their lawyer status lapse, an error that could spark a flurry
of refiled grievances.
Board members voted Monday to suspend judges Brenda
Gould and Denise Spatafore from hearing cases until they re-
store their active status with the State Bar. :
Board Director Robin Perdue says the women are working
to obtain their continuing legal education credits to restore that
status as quickly as possible. é
Chairman Bob Brown says in the meantime, public em-
ployees who've had grievances denied by Gould or Spatafore
could probably appeal or refile those complaints.
Gordon Simmons with the West Virginia Public Workers
Union UE Local 170 says there are potentially hundreds of
grievances dating back to 2006 that could be refiled.Disc golfer
