Overview: What is Citizen Journalism

What is Citizen Journalism? Simply put, citizen journalism is when private individuals do essentially what professional reporters do report information. It is about communicating information.

Shoot Plan

Is the most important step and perhaps, the most difficult to master. It should be where most of your energy is directed

Be clear about the purpose of the shoot Means adopting an attitude to take control Plan the approximate length of the shoot

Have a checklist of all the equipment

Shooting Principles
1. Frame you Picture A well framed shot is appealing to the eyes
and helps in telling your story. Poor framing distracts viewers.

2. Shoot for Continuity The rules of continuity are at the heart of

creating a seamless sequence which will ctut together into a smooth edit.

3. Movement Movement makes the shot more interesting. Proper

movement adds dynamism to a sequence.

4. Record Clean Sound- Clean sound has no distortion or unwanted

noise.

5. Lighting- Gives shape and depth to your image. It helps focus your
viewr's attention toward your subject.

Basic Lighting: 3 Point Lighting

1. Key Light is the strongest light source and has the most influence
in the scene. It usually creates hard shadows.

2. Fill Light the second light which is positioned on the opposite side
of the key. It fills shadows created by the key light. Fill lights are usually softer or less bright than key light.

3. Back Light Illuminates the subject from the rear. It is used to

create definition and to provide subtle highlights around the subject's outlines. This helps separate the subject from the background giving you a more three-dimensional look
