Preface

As I mentioned in the previous parts that the idea of this book came to my mind after reviewing so many competitive examinations in examination halls or through Media and many people drop out without any success. I think most of the time the reason was either not enough preparation or lack of resources to enhance the knowledge required to compete with others.

Thats why I started writing this book on various subjects so that it can offer the basic guidance to the people preparing for the competition. Nonetheless everyone can get benefitted with this set of books because Ignorance is the curse of God, Knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven.

The Key to Success has been written for the people trying to prepare for any competition. Therefore the scope of this book is not to deep dive on any subject rather to swim across various layers but what one need to qualify. However, this book cannot be used to gain exhaustive knowledge on any given subject but it provides enough information that you can easily remember and be better prepared for anything.

As usual, at the end of the book, a multi-choice Questionnaire is given that has only one correct answer. Try to attempt those questions on your own and then check the correct answers from the Answer Sheet.

History of Indian Cinema

ndia is the world's largest producer of films. It produces around 1300 feature films in different languages of India i.e. Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Bhojpuri, Oriya, Punjabi, Assamese, Rajasthani etc. Bollywood is the informal name of Mumbai based film industry. The other informal names are Tollywood for Bengali film industry, Sandalwood for Kannada, Ollywood for Odisha, Mollywood for Malayalam and Kollywood for Tamil Film Industries.

Dadasaheb Phalke is called the Father of Indian cinema. The Indian cinema markets its films in over 90 countries. The first full length motion picture in India was Raja Harish Chandra in 1913, a Silent film produced by Dadasaheb Phalke in Marathi. Alam Ara was the first Indian talkie film which was screened in 1931. Sant Tukaram film of 1936 was screened in Venice Film Festival and became the first Indian film to be screened at an international film festival.

Older popular Film Directors of Bollywood are Abbas Mastan, Kamal Amrohi, Chetan Anand, K. Asif, Sooraj Barjatya, Shyam Benegal, Mahesh Bhatt, Basu hattacharya, Sachin Bhowmick, B.R. Chopra, J. Om Prakash, J.P. Dutta, Subhash Ghai, Gulzar, Rajkumar Hirani, Nasir Husain, Prakash Jha, Raj Kapoor, Girish Karnad, Amol Palekar, Shakti Samant, Asit Sen, V. Shantaram, Rajkumar Santoshi, Ravi Nagaich, Govind Nihlani, Sai Paranjpye, Rakesh Roshan, Ramanand Sagar, etc. Music Directors compose and arrange the music of a film. Some of them are Playback singers also. Mostly they compose in different Indian languages but the following persons have composed only for Hindi films viz. Censor Board
The Central Board of Film Certification popularly known as Censor Board is a Government of India regulatory body and controlled by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It reviews motion pictures, television shows, television advertisements etc. under the provisions of Cinematograph Act 1952. Films are publicly exhibited in India only after certification by the Board. When Cinema came to India in 1896, the Cinematograph Act 1909 of England was initialized. The act basically covered strict requirements for fire-safety of theatres. At that time the films made from highly flammable cellulose nitrate base. When First film in India, Raja Harishchandra was produced in 1913 by Dadasaheb Phalke, Indian Cinematograph Act was passed and came into effect in 1920. After Independence, Censor Board had implemented Cinematograph Act, 1952. Cinematograph (Certification) Rules were revised in 1983 and since then the Censor Board became Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The CBFC currently issues the following certificateso U for Universal means all ages admitted, nothing unsuitable for children also. o U/A means Parental Guidance required. In this category, all ages are admitted but certain scenes may be unsuitable for children under 12. o A means Adults only. Nobody younger than 18 years may see these types of movies. These Films do not have limitation on the bad language, violence or sex references. o Another category is S that means Restricted Movies or Documentaries. These can be seen by a specialised audience such as Doctors etc. The Board consists of nonofficial members and a Chair person, all of whom are appointed by Central Government. Presently Leela Samson, Bharatnatyam dancer, 26th Chairperson presides the Board, after Sharmila Tagore who was the longest continuous running Chairperson in the history. The Boards Headquarter is at Mumbai with Nine Regional offices at Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cuttack, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram.

 After formation of CBFC the first person who headed the Chairperson was Mr. C.S. Agarwal from 15th January, 1951 till 14th June, 1954. The other persons were Mr. M.D. Bhatt 1955-1959; Mr. D.L. Kothari 1960 1965; Mr. Virendra Vyas 1972 1976; Mr. K.L. Khandpur 1976 1981;

Madame Tussauds is a wax museum in London It was founded by wax sculptor Marie Tussaud, born as Anna Maria Grosholtz in 1761 in Strasbourg, France. Her mother worked as a housekeeper for Dr. Philippe Curtius in Bern, Switzerland, who was a physician skilled in wax modelling. Curtius taught Tussaud the art of wax modelling. Tussaud created her first wax figure, of Voltaire, in 1777. It has its branches in a number of major cities at o America - Hollywood, Las Vegas (Obama, Martin Luther King Jr., George W.
