Even before I decided to take English as my major, I already knew that literature occupies a portion in my being.

Through it I get to know people, I get to know how different we are from each other. But achieving this would be impossible if I do not extend my senses to those things which are out of my zone. I need to take effort in exploring the other worlds. How? They are miles and miles away from my area. I got the solution there in the four corners of our classroom. It turned out as an avenue where I came to meet these clouded worlds. Everything that happened inside that classroom is incomparable to the tons of diamonds found beneath the soil. Tuesday and Thursday afternoons are answered dreams for I was brought to places alien to me. Despite the alienations I felt, I became a person that is now more tolerant and open-minded than I was before. I now used to think out of the box. I believe my classmates would affirm if I say that there For life to be is something, I must say someone who drew us closer to the veiled lived, you have to dimensions of the worlds out there. It is her. It is the way she teaches the subject. It is not just in the way she speaks, but dive into the sea of more on what she speaks. In her I learned things that are beyond humanity. those in books. Her confidence, humor, punctuality, and most especially her subjectivity amazed and inspired me. At many discussions, I got to know her preferences and judgement which made me conclude that she is a non-conformist. I would not forget her words of wisdom like when she said, For life to be lived, you have to dive into the sea of humanity. The weight of the words is quite heavy that it gave me an impact worth catching. In a span of five months I noticed how literature changed me. It changed me in the sense that I became understanding to people whose skin colors differ from mine, and people who are out of my reach. Like me, they are just but humans who carry with them their own baggage of culture. I am very blessed that I learned to be more humane because of nineteen letters-AFRO-ASIAN LITERATURE.
