Please find enclosed our timetable which is for the complete year from January to December. This has been calculated to methods discussed during the conference.

Timetable According to 18 Degrees

Fajr time starts when astronomical twilight starts. Astronomical Twilight starts when sun is at 18 degrees below the horizon according to Fuqahaa and Astronomers. Similarly, as Isha is also based on the same principle, Isha time starts when astronomical twilight ends in the evening i.e., when sun falls below 18 degrees below the horizon. In the enclosed time table Isha and Fajr time is based, when sun is on 18 degrees from the horizon between 28th September to 19th March.

Verdict of Sahibain
During the summer time astronomical twilight ends very late on 18 degrees. This makes it impractical to offer Isha, This is where we can benefit from the ruling of the Sahibain. They state that Isha time can be started when nautical twilight disappears. This happens when the sun reaches 12 degrees below the horizon. These time slots are 20th March to 6th May, and 9th August to 27th September.

Tanseef-ul-Lail (Midnight Formula)

Fajr starts and Sehri ends when the sun reaches 18 degrees in the morning below the horizon. During those days when the sun doesnt drop to 18 degrees, the Midnight formula is used to calculate the times for Fajr. This is the time difference between sunset and sunrise divided in half and added to sunset. This is the only correct method to calculate Fajr timings in those days.

Time Adjustments
The following adjustments have been made to allow for altitude differences from sea level. 3 minutes has been added Dhuhr and Magrib time. 3 minutes have been subtracted from sunrise time.

Dhahwa-e-Kubra
Dhahwa-e-Kubra (Zawal time) is before the start of Dhuhr time, during which time the sun is on its zenith and prostration (Sajda), is forbidden.
