Sempai!: Chapter Summaries Chapter One: Anou Sa?!

Gaara asks Naruko for a favor pretend to be his teacher to bail him out of trouble with his dad. She ends up agreeing and meets with Gaaras father, successfully completing the ruse (and taking advantage by finally getting something done about Gaara being bullied by Yakushisensei), and gets to have a free lunch with him for her troubles. She stays over at the Hyuuga estate, and in the meanwhile Gaara has a tiny heart to heart with his fatherand finds out his dad might possibly be interested in his sempai. The next logical thing? Coerce Naruko into dating his father. Chapter Two: The Awkward Affair Naruko agrees to Gaaras absurd request (for reasons unknown, even to her). She waits for Sabaku no Nagis call, and the man works up the nerve to do so (after a little push from Gaara). He asks her on a date, and normal proceedings in the Sabaku household ensue afterwards. He picks her up (Why does she have a nice apartment?!), and they end up having dinner in sushi room in a nice restaurant Nagi regretfully cant actually afford. They talk about their lives and hobbies (and friends of which Nagi unfortunately practically knows all of Narukos older friends), and have a good time anyway. Chapter Three: Aint No Mountain High Enough After a great date, he gets interrogated by his well-meaning but annoying familywho assume that he managed to bring Naruko home and into bed. Naruko, meanwhile, sneaks back into the Hyuuga estate and gets caught by Hizashi, who promises to keep it quiet. Soon, Nagi has to go back to work, where his coworkers (and incidentally friends of Naruko) pry about his date, what she looks like, and who she is. To which they inwardly have a panic attack and subsequently call said girl to find out whats up with the ruse and are persuaded to reluctantly play along for now. Chapter Four: Lies That Come to Be (Reverse by Gabrielle Aplin) Nagi calls Naruko on his lunch break to see if he could take her out, and she hastily agrees rushing out of school and spends lunch with him. Unknowingly, they get seen by Yakushi Kabuto, though he doesnt see Nagi clearly. When their lunch date is over, Naruko panics and hurries back to school, trying not to be late. Gaara notes her harassed and harried appearance, and feels guilty for pushing her for his favors, while Temari thinks that the sub Kurenai might be the mysterious date. Nagi gets pushed by his coworkers to invite his date for karaoke the next night, and he ends up giving in. Naruko has a art night class, and wonders if the Sasori-sensei is the one Nagi talked about. Chapter Five: Karaoke! Sing For Your Life Nagi is again drilled by his kids about the outing and Naruko is thankfully in her apartment, and doesnt have to hide from Hiashi. The two arrived at the karaoke place amidst Kakashi, Asuma, and Zabuza forcefully keeping quiet, and Genma, Gai, Yamato, Raido and Haku shocked at who Nagis mysterious girl actually is. After an awkward start, some sake and Zabuzas awful singing loosens things up and things are going fine. And then Itachi comes in. And then he ends up staying. And then Naruko cant help be distant from Nagi to ward off the Uchiha. That doesnt

go down too well Nagi gets hurt and confused, and things just become clusterfuck for the group as they try to keep Itachi from the truth. Chapter Six: Never Close Our Eyes When Itachi finally leaves, things are a mess and Naruko is frustrated. She sees Nagi is upset and she doesnt want to be (and oddly enough, a part of her is extremely upset on his behalf). She drags him out and instead finds other night places to spend time with him, and just her alone. At last, they end up in her apartment and they talk about random things quietly together, and she notices the look in his eyes as he looks at her. With a sinking feeling in her gut, she realizes just how deep hes in and how just how serious the situation she and Gaara unknowingly created. Chapter Seven: Lost All Direction (Alive by Leona Lewis) After her revelation, Naruko feels guilty and ends up avoiding Nagi and not answering his calls. Not sure whats wrong and at a loss to what was happening after what hed thought was a great night, he ends up asking Gaara after her. Gaara feels guilty as well and lies. Temari, sure its Kurenai-sensei, takes to stalking her and trying to observe her and why she wasnt talking to her father. She prods discreetly and ends up confused, goes to her dad to ask about his date againand finds out Kurenai isnt the teacher-date when her dad says her hair color was blonde. Knowing Gaara doesnt have any other female teachers, and she cant recall any blonde teachers at school either, she ends up confronting him and dragging Kankuro (and Baki, while she was at it) with her. Gaara reluctantly confesses and admits to why. Chapter Eight: Which Way the Wind Goes (Ghosts by Gabrielle Aplin) Naruko visits her parents grave for guidance, uncertain what to do now and feeling loss and guilty. Itachi finds her there and tells her he knows whats going on, and that he found out by bullying Kakashi and the others into confessing. He gives her what advice he cans and gives her quiet comfort, and they stand before the Namikaze-Uzumaki grave together. Nagi finally gets off extremely early, luckily enough (though he doesnt know Itachi arranged for it), and goes to Gaaras school to confront the administration about his sons treatment by Kabuto. He confronts Kabuto himself the next day, and finds out that Naruko is actually a student. He doesnt believe it until he sees her in school as he leaves. Naruko gets confronted by him in her apartment. Chapter Nine: Awake for Days (More than Friends by Gabrielle Aplin) Naruko confesses and he expresses his determination to win her over and asks that she continue to date and spend time with him, so he can show that a real relationship can work between and so that he has the chance to get her to fall in love with him back. Surprised, she reluctantly agrees and they arrange to have another, real first date. He goes home to see his family waiting up and knowing the truth, and the others awkwardly hide away to leave Nagi and Gaara to talk. Chapter Ten: My Heart is Yours They once again meet up at the Leaf Caf, and Naruko is a little more forthcoming about herself, and adjusts and expands on previous things she told Nagi. Nagi gets called in to see Itachi, who warns him he knows the truth and what would happen if he happened to hurt Naruko in any way. He also warns Nagi of Narukos family and how overprotective either side is, and that there are

certain expectations of Narukos partner (and that there might actually even be certain people who either family have thought of to be that partner already). He would have to deal with the standards and scrutiny if he wanted to be with Naruko, and Itachi asks if he can handle that and was willing to do so. Out of his depth, Nagi nevertheless stubbornly agrees that he would and that he wont give up on her. Chapter Eleven: The Misery Business Kabuto threatens to expose Nagi and Naruko to Fugaku and Hiashi if they dont break up, causing undue stress on Nagi and his family. Nagi doesnt want to tell Naruko, but ends up doing so when she tells him she knows somethings up. She unhappily reports it to Itachi, who promises to take care of it. He silently has Kabuto taken out, and he tells Naruko that things will be okay and to not worry about it anymore. Chapter Twelve: Strings and Quartets Nagi introduces Naruko to his family (who knows her but for the sake of being introduced as Dads girl), Baki, and then late on Sasori. He plans on taking her out to a concert, and ends up having to take Gaara and Sasori along. Sasori and Naruko have common ground, and Nagi gets jealous. Chapter Thirteen: Kiss Nagi tries to find out from his kids if there was anyone Naruko likes, and eventually even tries to subtly ask if Naruko likes Sasori. He ends up even asking Sasori if theres anything going on, and the other red head admits that he likes Naruko as well, but Nagi got to her first so its hands off. Sasori even tells him (though she doesnt know it), Naruko really likes Nagi back as well. Screwing up his courage, Nagi kisses her. Chapter Fourteen: And Tell Naruko ends up feeling confused after the kiss. It wasnt that she didnt like itit was that she liked it a little too much. She hadnt expected to feel so strongly for the other, especially considering how they started. Now her feelings are all over the place and she doesnt know who to talk to. None of her younger friends knew what was going on and so wouldnt understand. The Sabaku kids would be biased. Her older friends on the Hyuuga side didnt know anything either, and she didnt want to get into explaining. Her older friends on the Uchiha side were all overprotective (or plain perverted like Kakashi would be). Eventually, she surprisingly ends up talking to Sasori. Chapter Fifteen: Say Ill Be On Sasoris advice, she tries to calm herself and try to express through art (and ends up getting frustrated the first few timesand destructive the first two times at that). She gets interrupted by Nagi, who is hesitant and worried that he had upset her and moved too fast. She ends up telling the truth and they kiss again. It gets heated and paint is messy. The room might still be salvable. Jiraiya and Tsunade appear on the scene.
