Proposed Bear Hunting in San Luls Obispo County
eae Mis. Gustafson and Commissioners
| strongly believe prior tothe Commission allowing the expansion of bear hunting in San Luis
(Obispo, 2 hearing should be held in San Luis Obispo. The prior hearings have bean held more
‘than two hundred miles from here and the public in our county who are most affected, have
been unable to personally weigh-in,
‘Additionally, ! believe the Department of Fish and Game should conduct an accurate census to
{determine the population of bears in our county before issuing licenses to hunt these animals.
[At this point in time, there appears to be no indication that bears have become overpopulated
|e., a nuisance in the neighborhoods or common sightings inthe backcountry.
For the above reasons | am opposed to, and even offended by, the proposal to extend sport
hunting of black bears in San Luis Obispo County. Thank you for this opportunity to comment,
and taking these comments in considera
