2013 VEDIC FESTIVALS

In the year Nandana 2012 2013 in the 11 th Lunar month of Pushya during the Solar month of Thai, the first Pournimasya (Sa) [Chitra] (100%) occurs precisely at 11h: 18m: 24.89s in January 26 Saturday 2013, Malaysian Standard Time(MST) 8:00 East of GMT. This Pournimasya falls in the Nakshatra or constellation Punarvasu or Punarpoosam 4 th pada ruled by Jupiter in 1 degree Cancer 44 25.71 and is Vargottama in Navamsa. It is also the time when the spiritual vedic festival Thaipoosam is celebrated. The exact timing of this holy festival occurs when Chandran or the Moon first starts to traverse the Nakshatra Poosam 1 st pada and later through the 2, 3 and 4 th padas in the sign Cancer or Kataka in the Solar month THAI when the SUN transits the sign Capricorn or Makara, during the Lunar month Pushya, and ONLY when the MOON begins traversing the nakshatra POOSAM, hence the name THAIPOOSAM. (Better at 14:35:40) when the MOON is in POOSAM 1st pada at 3 degrees Cancer 25 25.05 based on Bhava Chart). The nakshatra POOSAM is considered to be the most auspicious constellation among the 27 nakshatras in the vedic zodiac belt. POOSAM is ruled by Saturn but its presiding Lord is Brihaspati or Jupiter in the mystic and spiritual Moon sign Kataka or Cancer. Jupiter is the significator and depository of all spiritual knowledge and wisdom while the MOON is the chief significator of the Mind and the SUN the Supreme Brahman. This alignment of the SUN during its Northernly course upwards or Uttarayana while directing and gazing its powerful effulgence upon the MOON in its own sign Kataka, in all its mesmerizing, mystical and bewitching glory, gives birth to a most auspicious benediction and the outpouring of abundant and bountiful spiritual grace and blessings.
