Lesson I Assessments Informal Assessment. The below chart was written on chart paper.

After I have shown the students what they are supposed to be doing, students will write metaphors on post it notes while I read then post them at the end. Lesson II Assessments Informal Assessment. For lesson II, I will give pairs of students note cards with metaphors written on them. They will need to write what the metaphor meant and illustrate it. Below are the cards and metaphors that they students will be given.

Lesson IV Assessments Informal Assessment

I will be checking in with students during the lesson making sure they are in fact writing metaphors about their home, making sure that they have at least 5 of them and that they make sense. I will also collect their writing notebooks at the end of the lesson to read the poems and give them feedback. Lesson V Assessments Below is the poetry book checklist that the students will be given to help them effectively complete their final project. A final copy of the Home poem will be included within the final project which is how it will ultimately be assessed.

The final rubric below correlates with the above checklist. If the student effectively completes everything on the checklist, they will get all 4s (the top score) on the rubric.
