RAJ BHAWAN BANGALORE 13th Sept., 2011 DO No. GS 88 EST 2011 Dear, Chief Minster, You may be aware that the Government had constituted a Task Force for Recovery of Public Land and its protection in September, 2009 under the Chairmanship Addl. Chief of Shri V. to Balasubramanian, Former Secretary

Government of Karnataka. The Chairman of the Task Force has submitted a report to the Government in June, 2011 entitled Greed and Connivance. When the Chairman to the Task Force met me, he had given me a copy of the report. I had carefully gone through the report. It makes shocking revelations and it is and eye opener. The fact that more than 11,00,000 lakh acres of Government and is under encroachment in the State is a very serious matter. The conditions of lakes and water bodies in Bangalore and how they are systematically encroached of the sewage of the city let into these lakes has been brought out with illustrated cases in the report. In a subsequent letter, Shri Balasubramanian also ventured to quantify the value of land encroached and put it at Rs. 1,95,000 Crores, more than 2-G scam and Bellary Mining Scandal combined. It is three months since the report has been submitted to the Government. I have also seen public disquiet in the media about the issues relating to encroachment of Government land and lakes. I would appreciate if you can let me know of the action taken by the Government on the findings and recommendations of the Task Force of Recovery

of Public Land and its Protection as contained in its Chairmans report of 2011. With warm regards,

Yours sincerely, -sd(H.R. BHARDWAJ)

Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Chief Minister of Karnataka, Vidhan Soudha, Bangalore 560001
