The first traditional field trip that I would take my students on would be to Springs Preserve Origen Museum.

This field trip would be intended for K-2 students to learn Geography. This is a self-guided tour at the Springs Preserve. Students will learn about the Mojave Desert, the water cycle, outdoor animals, and the Hoover Dam. Students will be given a worksheet to fill out about things that they see during the tour.

The second field trip that I would take my students on would be to Project Real. This field trip is intended for 3-5th grade to learn about government and civics. Students will learn about the Federal and Nevada civil and criminal judicial systems in an actual Nevada Courtroom.

Project real has so many fun opportunities for students to learn about new things in social studies. One visitation they offer is Project Real: Foundations of Democracy program. Utilizing the Center for Civic Educations Foundations of Democracy curriculum, K-5 students explore four basic principles: Authority, Privacy, Responsibility and Justice. I would use this as a K-2 field trip.

Project Real also offers Project Real: Play By the Rules. This program teaches students about Nevada Law and the juvenile justice system. Taught by teams of teachers and law enforcement officers, the students gain knowledge, critical thinking skills and the attitudes necessary for success. I would use this as a 3-5 field trip.

A virtual field trip that I would use for my K-2 students would be: http://teacher.scholastic.com/activities/immigration/tour/. This takes students on a tour of Ellis Island. Students will learn the struggles of the people and how immigrants migrated to America.

Another virtual tour that I would have my 3-5th grade students go on is: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/everest/climb/indexnorth.html. Students will be able to explore Mount Everest and other mountains in the world.
