Check for Understanding By having the students discuss their answers to the appeals walkthrough from the day before, I will be able to see the reasoning behind some of the students answers and see where I must reteach my students. Also, by having students activate their prior knowledge about identifying appeals in advertisements, I will be able to effectively move into identifying logos, ethos, and pathos in advertisements. The introductory video about Aris use of persuasion will give students some background information about the lecture and notes, which may make the lesson a little less overwhelming. Having the students identify logos, ethos, and pathos in the commercial will allow me to see if students comprehended my lecture about the different concepts.
