To think about what are th e various characteristics and traits that blend into each other to make a man. We were born male, but by what description do we feel we've become men? The scales are tilted in emphasis on the physical, mental and emotional strength that is needed. The courage and bravado that is displayed. To have drive and am bition to succeed. To be triumphant in the face of adversity. To be proud. To be self- assured. To be self-reliant. To get what you want. THESE ARE IMPORTANT but they are NOT ENOUGH. Let's give weight to the other side and balance out the scale. To be sensitive i s also Manly. To be gentle is also Manly. To believe and treat man and woman as equal is also Manly. To respect man and woman equally is also Manly. To provide dignity to others is also Manly. To support the oppressed is also Manly. To the have the strength to accept 'No' as an answer is also Manly.
