Dear Parents/Guardians,

Hello! My name is Jessica Nordenson and I have been assigned to student teach in your childs classroom this semester. I am an Elementary Education major at Drake University and have endorsements in Reading and English as a Second Language. In my three weeks at Lakewood I have very much enjoyed getting to know the students in Heather Tobeys classroom- you have some great kids! So far my time in the classroom has been spent teaching a few subjects and working with students in small groups. The student teaching program at Drake works as a phasein and phase-out program, so I will be doing my supervised full-time teaching in late February and early March, and then leaving the classroom after spring break. I want to thank you for the opportunity to teach your children and assure you that I will work hard to provide them with a great education! Throughout my past few years at Drake I have gained much experience from spending time in several classrooms of varying ages and abilities, and that as well as my current experience at Lakewood has prepared me for my full-time teaching. My time at Lakewood has been nothing but enjoyable- Heather has been a wonderful mentor and I feel confident that I will be able to successfully teach in her classroom!
