D. TEACHER INSTRUCTION: - The teacher will begin with the word collaboration and ask students what the word means to them. As students raise their hands to share ideas, the teacher will record them on the whiteboard. - After the children have an understanding of collaboration, the teacher will explain that art can be collaborative too. - The teacher will then explain that the artwork the class will do today will be collaborative and show a benchmark. Introduce the title of the lesson Lines with Friends and describe that the students will work with their friends at their tables to make a collaborative composition of a variety of horizontal lines. - The teacher will then ask the children about lines is there only one kind? The teacher will then demonstrate some different types of lines as the students suggest them.

- Following, the teacher will describe the process: Each student will start with a piece of paper, draw a horizontal line of their choice, then pass to the person next to them. They will do the same with a new piece of paper 5 more times, so there are a variety of lines from a variety of people on each page. - After there are 6 lines on the page, the teacher will then explain that the children will use watercolors to paint each space between the lines with an alternating warm or cool color. - The teacher will describe warm colors as colors youd see on the sun, and cool colors as colors youd see in the sea. -The teacher will review the process of the painting after the students have completed the line part of the project. QUESTIONS TO GENERATE DISCUSSION: What does collaboration mean? What are some different kinds of lines? What are warm and cool colors?

E. LEARNING ACTIVITY: - Students will each begin with a white piece of paper and a black crayon. - Students will be given a few moments to make a horizontal line of their choice on the paper, then they will pass it to the child next to him or her. - The children will follow this process 5 more times so there are 6 lines on their page. - The teacher will get the students attention to review alternating warm and cool colors and what the colors are. - Then, the students will be free to paint their collaborative line drawings with their choice of alternating warm and cool colors
