Travel Advisories

1. Trinidad and Tobago


2. A travel advisory is a warning issued by the government in which terrorism,
health, weather, and other security issues in a country which the government
advises not to travel to.
3. Panama - DFAIT advises against all travel beyond Yaviza due to Columbian
guerrilla who has committed kidnappings, murders, and drug trafficking.
Haiti – Transportation routes, power, and medical utilities have been compromised
due to heavy rainfall. High amounts of criminal activity due to lack of proper police
infrastructure.

4. Crime more often in urban areas. Strict gun laws doesn’t mean no gun crime. Auto
theft, and theft is occasional, visitors should keep valuables out of sight.
5. Violent crime at night, avoid locations such as: Laventille, Morvant, Sea Lots,
South Belmont, scenic rest stops, walking across the Queen’s Park Savannah,
and downtown Port of Spain. Rape, murder, theft is very common.
6. Canada – High amounts of crime in Trinidad, tend to increase during Carnival
and Christmas. Rates of HIV/AIDs are high in the country. Flooding and
earthquakes are normal in this region.
Britain -There is a high level of gang related violence and crime in
Trinidad. You should not carry large amounts of cash or wear eye-catching
jewellery. Use hotel safety deposit boxes to store valuables, money and
passports. Do not walk alone in unlit areas at night time. Do not resist
robbers or muggers. Medical facilities are lacking, yellow fever vaccinations
are recommended.
Australia – High levels of crime, poorly maintained roads, avoid driving at
night. High rates of HIV.
