Black History Month, held in October, provides an ideal opportunity for schools and
colleges to celebrate the cultural and religious diversity of black and minority ethnic
communities in British society. In Southwark we want all our teachers and school
support staff to feel confident in their knowledge, understanding and delivery of Black
History not only in Black History Month, but throughout the year as part of a curriculum
offer rich accurately reflects the diversity and richness of British Society today

SUGAR MEDIA, publishers of THE OFFICIAL BLACK HISTORY MONTH
MAGAZINE have produced a unique and high quality pack which enables
teachers to integrate and incorporate Black History across the year and
curriculum. The pack contains detailed teacher notes, lesson plans, worksheets,
posters and DVD film clips covering the following topics.

•Britain since the 1930s - The Windrush Generation
•Britain since the 1960s - The Black British Experience

This twilight session will provide you with an introduction to the pack, examples of
how other schools have used the materials and a first hand introduction to how to
make effective use of the materials in your school context.

Packs will be available to purchase or order on the day at a cost of £19.99+pp
