articulation; introduction of double tonguing. REVIEW & REFINE: Practice Rain Come Wet Me and Romanian Folk Song to work on smooth finger transitions and correct voicing and tone production. Make sure air support is good, especially behind tonguing. SOUND TO SIGHT: 1. Sing Dinah (add tapping) 2. Tap with inner hearing while teacher keeps track of heart beats on board. 3. How many sounds in the first beat? Review sixteenth note/tiki tiki and derive rest of rhythm. 4. Sing rhythm to check. 5. Derive solfa and apply to address names. 6. Sing address names and finger. 7. Sing rhythm language but keep fingering. PRESENT NEW ELEMENT: 1. What do we always say when we tongue/what shape does our mouth and tongue make? (too) 2. Finger & sing in tonguing language (too-too). 3. Discuss speed/awkwardness of tonguing sixteenth notes. 4. How else could we tongue it? (What do we say for sixteenth notes?) a. Too-koo-too-koo 5. Try slowly with double tonguing. Try crab tonguing. (Koo-Too: to strengthen K sound) READING FROM THE STAFF: P. 53 Deedle Deedle Dumpling. Read from the staff in guided steps together, then solos. 1. Say rhythm syllables & tap. 2. Sing solfa. 3. Sing pitch names and finger. 4. Sing rhythm language and finger. 5. Sing tonguing language and finger. 6. Play with double tonguing. 7. Play with crab double tonguing. PART WORK or WRITING: Create variations of Romanian Folk Song by taking turns changing one ti ti to a tiki tiki and practicing each others variations. Also have whole class play song but only one student play the tiki tiki.
