When: Sunday, September 9, 2012 Where: Dujail, Kirkuk, Nasiriyah, Baghdad (all in Iraq) Why: To undermine Iraqs government and create havoc. Story #2 Topic: Chinese earthquake Who: Chinese people living in zones hit by the recent earthquake What: An earthquake in China left 81 dead and the survivors are without necessary supplies When: Friday, September 7- Sunday, September 9, 2012 Where: Guizhou and Yunnan provinces in China Why: This area lies near a tectonic plate border Story #3 Topic: Nicaraguan Volcano Who: The nine communities near the San Cristobal Volcano in Nicaragua What: Nicaraguan troops evacuated areas around the San Cristobal Volcano as it ejected ash and gas; a precursor to an eruption When: Saturday, September 8, 2012 Where: The area around the San Cristobal Volcano in Nicaragua Why: The Volcano spewed out ash and gas: a precursor to an explosion Rhetorical Preics In her article High temps reminder of climate change (2012), Frances Beinecke declares that our climate is changing and the time to do something is now. Beinecke combines factual evidence, logical appeal and a seemingly desperate tone to prove her claim. She hopes to encourage both parties to come together on this issue to save the planet and reduce overall fossil fuel usage. Her audience is the average American that may or may not be concerned about climate change.
