Jasmine Jackson April 24, 2013 Classroom Management Dr. Vanderburg Classroom Management Plan Classroom Management Plan I believe that classroom management is one of the most important factors in an academic setting. Before an individual can set the foundation for their classroom, you have to first know who you are as a person. I consider myself to be a very talented and educated individual. I work hard to accomplish my dreams to the fullest. I work hard so that Ill be able to inspire the generation behind me to want to be somebody. Strengths Some of my strengths that could be contributed towards my classroom would be being able to listen to my students respectively. By me listening to my students ideas and opinions, helps to develop creative and well-thought lesson plans. This way I know that my lesson plans would be interesting and my students are able to relate because it is from their shared opinions. Another strength I have that could be incorporated in the classroom is being very encouraging and motivating to those in my presence. It is my job as a teacher to encourage my students to do their best regardless of what the circumstance will be. I will push my students daily to strive to achieve their highest goals even when they are at their lowest peak. Weaknesses

Some of my weaknesses includes I seem to be a procrastinator. This weakness would not be good in the classroom setting because it shows behavior of disorganization skills as well as unprofessionalism. As a teacher, you have to set an example for your students to lead by. If my students see that I wait to the last minute to plan an assignment, they would think that it is alright to turn their assignments in late as well. Another weakness I have is being too nice. This could definitely be a weakness inside my classroom because being too nice to someone can show a sign of an individual being easily influenced as well as a push over. As a teacher, you have to know your limits and when to draw a line when it comes to discipline. As an educator, I would stand up to my students and let them know this is how the situation is going to be and if it is not followed there would be consequences following their actions. Flaws that need to be address before becoming an educator Before I can become an educator to teach my students, I have to work on a couple of things within myself. First, I have to get into the habit of starting to get up early. An education career consist of individuals starting their day off early and ending late due to meetings and other obligations. Therefore, each morning I have to wake up with the motivation that my job relies on someones future. Secondly, I have to work on my long range planning. I have a huge problem on my hands when it comes down to planning for anything. I have to learn that when I teach there are going to be meetings, forums, and after school activities that I am going to have to be in attendance with; therefore planning weeks ahead could give me time to have to plan for anything extra if I have to. When working with students you begin to learn all their weaknesses and strengths. As an educator, you learn that all students learn at a different pace. Therefore, I would plan my assignments according to my students work ability. I would seek different methods that could possibly help the students that seem to still be struggling with concepts. Once that is discussed, I would have all the students to take a test to see what they have learned. Next, I would take a poll to see what improvements and progress they have made so far. Lastly, as the weeks go by and they progress, we would have a huge celebration at the end for their huge accomplishments. Another way I would incorporate awards would be by developing a point system. The point system would consist of the students earning points throughout the week for making good grades on different assignments or presenting a good deed. Once the students get so many points, they would be awarded for their behavior with different stickers, decorative pencils, etc. Little children love to be awarded for little accomplishments like these. As far as rules and procedures, I would let my students know at the beginning that they all should respect one another. I would not implement too many rules because of the fact that they are smaller children and children learn by exploring; but at the same time there has to be limits. Rules such as respecting one another, keeping hands, feet, and objects to self, speaking with inside voices, etc. would be necessary for the age appropriate group I am teaching. Sociology In my classroom, I would decorate my class with all types of colorful educational posters for my students to see on a daily basis. Being that I want to teach smaller children, I would have work stations constructed with different activities for them to be engage in for however many minutes they are in their centers.

When my students come in my class, I would want them as well as their parents to feel welcomed at all times. At this age, I would start the day off my getting the children hype and ready to learn with different nursery rhymes and chants to get them involved. When it comes to teaching a lesson, in order to get them involve I would have them repeat after me and then demonstrate whatever we are learning at the time. So for instance, if we are learning alphabets and I say the letter J begins with the word jump, I would have them all jump together. I would speak very loudly and energetically so that when they repeat after me they would feel confident in what they are saying or demonstrating. Also if they are unfamiliar with a concept that is being taught, I would use different types of flash cards and drawing for those who are visual learners and learn by seeing. Milieu As a new educator, going into a new school environment can be pretty tough. As for me, to get rid of the upcoming year jitters I would simply do some research on the school that I am going to be teaching at. I would learn all I need to learn such as what are their testing scores, what type of environment the school is in, what learning strategies are incorporated in their classroom curriculum. Coming into the setting, I would definitely interact with the students to see what levels of thinking they are on such as: which one needs help the most, who can catch on to task faster, etc. I would look at their style of clothing to see whether or not their clothing changes their behaviors in the classroom setting and so forth. I would definitely give a warm welcoming to the parents to let them know that I am sincere about my job and also if they have any questions about their children my door is always open. This also gives me a chance to see where the parents are coming from when it concerns their children.

Teaching Style My teaching style approach I think I would implement in my classroom would be high control. Although a high approach teacher is strict, my strictness would be implemented in enforcing high expectations for my students. They would know what is expected of them and we would do it in a matter that is entertaining but directed to the task. I would have them to participate in group assignments when learning their alphabets, sound words, etc. This way they are able to help one another when one may seem to be struggling. Also I would give them a chance to voice their opinions about various topics when we are reading stories during story time to see whether or not they really understand what is taken place. In conclusion, I feel that I would be a great teacher. I would make sure the environment is a safe and productive so that thinking can take place. I would go far and beyond to make sure my students would be high achievers.
