QUICK RIBBED ASCOT

Finished measurements: Approximately 4 ¼” x 36”

MATERIALS
Bulky weight wool (I used Wool-ease Thick &
Quick), approximately 75 yards
Knitting needles, size 13 (9 mm) or size
needed to obtain gauge
1 ½” -2” Button

GAUGE: In K1, P1 Ribbing, 15 sts = 4 ¼ ”

BODY
Cast on 15 sts loosely.
Row 1: Slip 1 as if to knit, (P1, K1) across.
Row 2 (Right side): Slip 1 as if to knit, (K1, P1) across to last 2 sts, K2.
Note: Mark Row 2 as right side.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures approximately 7 “ from cast on edge, ending
by working pattern Row 1.
Buttonhole Row: Slip 1 as if to knit, (K1, P1) 3 times, YO twice (see Note below), P2
tog, (K1, P1) across to last 2 sts, K2.
Note: Double YO (YO twice) is used to make a larger buttonhole. When working next
row, work double YO as if it is only one YO, allowing extra YO loop to drop off. If you
are NOT using a button that is 1 5/8” or larger, just do a single YO.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures approximately 36” or desired length.
Bind off sts loosely in pattern.
Sew Button to center of opposite end 7” from bound off edge.
Weave in yarn ends.
