Write an illustrated essay or create a detailed Prezi to answer the following question:

Is television news a window on the world?

Discuss the following areas: Starting Sequences, sets, presenters The legal and regulatory framework News selection processes News construction processes including narrative structure, and hiding the constructed nature of the text with continuity editing, cutaways to disguise the edits etc and create realism which is absolutely NOT the same as reality How selection and construction show that the news is not a transparent mediation of reality but highly selected and containing implicit viewpoints Whether all this matters and what we can do about it The impact of new technology on tv news and whether this makes a difference to these issues
