Jonathan Wiggins English 1102 Professor Raymond 4/3/2013 Ancient Mayans and Aliens

The Ancient Mayan culture is shrouded with mystery, and we may never know why certain things happened. Some of the things the Mayans did dont make any sense, yet they repeated for centuries, and the culture flourished. Building temples to obscure gods, human sacrifices, and abandoning of great cities are all evidence of erratic behavior. The Mayan civilization started establishing itself around 2000 B.C. and came to its peak between 250 and 900 A.D. Their culture was incredibly advanced for the time. (Maya) They built megalithic pyramids that are still standing today, around two thousand years later. They accomplished all of this without the help of modern day engineering, and used only primitive tools. Manpower is an incredible thing, but it can be a little hard to believe that they accomplished such amazing feats.(startling) One obscure theory is that they had contact with extra-terrestrials, or aliens. There is some solid evidence supporting that there was contact with an alien race. The artwork that the Mayans left behind vividly shows these figures who appear to be human, or at least human like,

wearing things that appear to be space suits (Dniken). There were even some evidences that seem to depict vehicles such as spacecraft with their gods leaving them. This evidence clearly supports that their gods could have been simply visitors from another planet.

(Dniken) A mayan spacecraft Their religion often speaks of the gods as the givers of life, and how they will come again. The Mayan Calendar was supposed to tell of the coming back of their gods to earth. This is eerily similar to the Christian religion which talks about the second coming of Christ. (Dniken). It is very strange how two cultures that existed in around the same time had very similar religions, even though there was no possible way that they had any form of communication. These people were separated by vast oceans, and had no clue there was any world other than what was directly around them. The forming of these cultures and religions also took place during the same time period when the Egyptians were building the great pyramids. The Mayans built pyramids also, but not quite to the scale of the Egyptians. The Egyptian pyramids were built for no apparent reason, and were built with incredible accuracy and manpower resources. The Egyptian pyramids were built with extreme accuracy and with signifigant measurements. If you take the perimeter of the pyramid and divide it by two times the height, you get a number that is exactly equivalent to the number pi (3.14159...) up to the fifteenth digit. (startling) This accuracy and geometric theory behind this is incredible for such an ancient people. It is also insane to think about the manpower required to move these stones What about the fact that the Egyptians had not even invented the wheel yet, but the blocks that they had to carry to build the pyramids weighed about 2 tons each? 4,000 lbs.? What did they do... use cement? In fact, they used so much stone, that if you took all of the stone they used and cut it into 1 foot square blocks, it would extend 2/3 of the way around the earth!!! (startling)

The Mayan people also participated in human sacrifices to please their gods. They were so adamant about this practice that they continued it for years upon years in an effort to bring the gods back to them. (Human). If they were content with killing their own people to please a higher
being, they must have truly done great things for the Mayan People. The gods obviously meant a lot to the Mayans, enough to make them do some things that seem crazy in todays culture. Maybe they had help from an alien race, or maybe they just wanted to please their gods. Maybe the gods were aliens, and maybe all of the ancient cultures of that time were influenced by aliens. We may never know, but speculation is backed by some solid facts that can be interpreted in any way your imagination can bend it.
