Rev. 04/09/08 Provide a brief description of the resource. Investigations in Number, Data and Space 2.0 Investigations in Number, Data, and Space, 2nd Edition is a research-based, child-centered approach to teaching mathematics through engaging activities, discussions, and problem solving, Students are involved in meaningful ‘mathematical problems, and teachers engage in ongoing learning about mathematics content and how children learn mathematics. Everyday Mathematics 3.0 Everyday Mathematics emphasizes the application of mathematics to real world situations. Numbers, skills and mathematical concepts are not presented in isolation, but are linked to situations and contexts that are relevant to éveryday lives. The curriculum also provides numerous suggestions for incorporating mathematics into daily classroom routines and other subject areas. Rev, 04/09/08 Each Everyday Mathematics lesson includes time for whole-group instruction as well as small group, partner, or individual activities. These activities balance teacher-directed instruction with opportunities for open-ended, hands-on explorations, long-term projects and on-going practice. Everyday Mathematics provides numerous methods for basic skills practice and review. These include written and choral fact drills, mental math routines, practice with fact triangles (flash cards of fact families), daily sets of review problems called Math Boxes, homework, timed tests and a wide variety of math games. ‘Math Connects / MathScape ‘Math Connects: Concepts, Skills, and Problem Solving was written by the authorship team with the end results in mind. They looked at the content needed to be successful in Geometry and Algebra and backmapped the development of mathematical content, concepts, and procedures to ensure a solid foundation and seamless transition from grade level to grade level... Math Connects focuses on three key areas of vocabulary to build mathematical literacy, diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments. Focus on concepts, skills, and problem solving for a traly balanced program. Promotes vocabulary to build mathematical literacy ‘Applies a comprehensive assessment system including diagnostic, formative, and ‘summative assessments in addition to self-assessment options for students Enhanced differentiated instruction through lesson interleaves with leveled instructional alternatives for each lesson. ‘MathScape is a standards-based program that encourages your students to learn ‘mathematics by doing mathematics, by using and connecting mathematical ideas, and by actively increasing their understanding, MathScape is one of four middle school programs to receive a satisfactory rating from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
