Course outline: Unit I Trade Theories International Trade Theories- Absolute & Comparative Advantage , Hecksher Ohlin Theory. Alternative theories of International trade ; Strategic Trade Theory; Liberalization; Speed; Order & Sequencing ; Globalization. Tarrif and Non-Tarrif barriers. Unit II - Foreign Trade Structure in India Recent Foreign Trade Structure in India: Merchandise & Services Trade; Composition and Direction of Foreign Trade; Balance of Payment. Implications for Economic Policy making; Indias share in Worlds Exports, Export Competitiveness; Exports and economic Growth, Implications for future International Business Policy. Unit III Trading Houses and Role of Information Technology Export Processing Zones, Trading Houses, Classification of trading houses, Export Promotion Councils, Duty Entitlement Passbook Scheme, Global trade through Internet, International trade through Electronic Data Interchange. Unit IV - Market and Risk Analysis Emerging Market Analysis, Credit risk, Currency risk, Carriage risk, Country risk, Country Risk Analysis, Trade Operations: Ex-works, FOR, FAS, FOB C & F, CIF, DCP, EX-ship, DAF, DDP.
