Planned and taught units of study in 7th grade English, 7th grade Advanced English, and 8th grade mathematics classes in alignment with the Michigan Common Core State Standards. Differentiated instruction in the Advanced 7th grade English course by providing the same curriculum required for 7th grade English, but instilling independent thinking skills and independent learning tasks. Collaborated with special education and general education teachers to provide accommodations and modifications for students with special needs, 504s and IEPs. Worked with students in various settings, including individually, in small groups, or as a whole class, in order to assess student learning on multiple levels of understanding. Improved student engagement by focusing on individual student literacies and incorporating technology and other learning intelligences into lesson plans. Assessed student learning through both formative and summative assessments to better gauge learning and adapt lessons accordingly. Communicated with parents via e-mail, phone call, parent-teacher conferences, and individual meetings regarding student progress and concerns. Incorporated technology into various lessons, including the use of music, Internet research, PowerPoint, YouTube, film, and Photo Story. Employed weekly journal writing prompts to encourage creative writing and an outlet for expression by using quotes as a basis for Food for Thought. Conducted a case study on an individual student and enhanced the students learning environment by making personal student accommodations, creating a student assignment agenda, and building a rapport with the student. Participated in all professional development meetings with colleagues, focusing on improving our school, state exams, community building in the school, and grade-specific content goals. Participated in Homework Club meetings. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Photo Story, PowerSchool, Weebly, Elmo Document Cameras, Wikispaces, Prezi.com. Independently and collaboratively investigated research questions, including school policies and available resources, by interviewing faculty and staff at the school. October 2011-April 2012
